The law of gravity states that “what goes up must come down”. However, scientists and astronauts have built rockets that are able to defy this law and transport human beings to other planets.
This can be likened to our lives. Constant challenges and difficulties can have us feeling “stuck in a rut”. However, the key to coming out of a rut is thanksgiving. Rejoicing may not always feel natural in the moment, but it is necessary to defy the difficulties that keep us stuck for too long. If you want to defy the laws of fear, shame, uncertainty, anxiety, and naysayers, you need to put on a garment of praise and make thanksgiving your NASA rocket ship.
Reasons we don’t thank God enough
- We become overfamiliar with God (Acts 14:15; Jeremiah 13:16).
When you become overfamiliar with God, you may stop recognizing His mighty works in your life. Remember, if you cannot give yourself life then learn to give God (the giver of life) praise. - We believe we are the reason for our life (1 Corinthians 15:10).
The areas of strengths in our lives should be seen as areas of grace. We should also recognize
that God is the one who has gifted us with these areas of grace and the ability to harness them. - We believe we have “good heads” (Psalm 71:7; James 1:17).
God may have given you a good mind but unless our heads are “screwed to God” we will not make it far. Don’t give yourself too much credit for what God has done. - We have allowed complaining to overwhelm our gratitude (Hebrews 12:1).
Don’t allow comparison steal the joy of the life God has given you to live. Don’t look at the race others are running but focus on yours.
